This is what it does
Try it
Pawsight answers one question about a pet: Monitor, Call the Vet, or Go Now. No version of the app is hosted anywhere yet — so what runs below is the product’s own urgency rules, over inputs you set yourself.
Runs in your browser — the product’s rules, on inputs you choose
- What it does: the product asks for 30 seconds of video, fills its prompt with the animal’s species, breed, age, weight and health notes, and returns one of three urgency levels with the reasoning, next steps and a list of questions to ask your vet.
- What to try: set the urgency and confidence a model would have returned, pick a breed and a few signs, and watch the breed modifier table and the three threshold rules move the verdict — including a Bulldog’s mild breathing signs lowering it.
- What it runs on: the product’s own triage rules, ported to that page from its
triage.tsand its breed-modifier table. No video is read, no model is called and no animal is examined. The port agrees with the product’s own test suite on all 8 of its fixtures and on 7 threshold boundaries. - What it does not do yet: the app is not hosted, no installable build exists (the only artifact is a compiled Android JavaScript bundle — Hermes bytecode, not an APK), the camera capture path — now written against the pinned
expo-camera@13.4.4and typecheck-clean — has never been run on a device, and no clinical validation has been done. The walkthrough is arithmetic on hypothetical inputs — it is not a diagnosis and not veterinary advice.
Status
Where this actually stands today
- No clinical validation has been done. The accuracy suite is the project’s own test harness against simulated model outputs. No licensed veterinarian has reviewed the triage output, and no study has measured it against real outcomes.
- The camera capture path has never been run. It is now written against the pinned
expo-camera@13.4.4andnpm run typecheckis clean, and a real Android bundle builds — but with no device, no simulator and no camera hardware the capture loop itself is unexecuted, so it is type-checked and bundle-checked only. - The AI tests run and pass: two suites execute with no API key, 42 checks at exit 0 (8 + 34, measured 2026-10-06). The backend functions and migrations exist in the repository and none is deployed.
- The walkthrough is the product’s rules, not a new model. Its port reproduces the product’s own 8 fixtures and the 0.4, 0.55 and 0.9 threshold boundaries exactly; the figures above are the suite’s measured output, not the 22 → 8% overtriage the spec records — that figure the current suite does not reproduce.
Under the hood
What it is built on
- Stack
- A TypeScript npm-workspaces monorepo: an Expo / React Native app, Supabase with Postgres, row-level security and four Deno edge functions, Gemini 2.5 Flash for the analysis, and Google Places for the vet finder.
- Runs where
- The app runs through Expo Go or a simulator, and the backend is written against a Supabase project with migrations 0001–0003 and
analyze-video,send-reminders,process-checkinandcoach-chatas source. None of it is deployed, which is why this page shows the rules instead. - Tested by
- Two AI suites with no API key, 42 checks at exit 0, over prompt contracts, breed-modifier direction, urgency recalibration, zero undertriage on true emergencies and an overtriage rate against the 12% target — plus the coach pipeline offline.
- Payments
- None. Stripe is a declared dependency and is not wired; no control in the build leads to a checkout, and nothing on this page can charge you.
- Blocked on
- The camera capture path against the pinned camera library version, and clinical review of the triage output.
Plainly
What this is not
- It is not a diagnosis. It never has been, and no version of it is intended to be. It sorts a situation into three urgency levels and tells you what to watch for.
- It is not a substitute for a veterinarian, and it cannot examine your animal. A video is a fraction of what a clinician sees in a room.
- It cannot tell you an animal is fine. A “Monitor” verdict means the recording did not show signs that demand immediate care — not that nothing is wrong. Deterioration between recordings is invisible to it.
